The Interactive Brain, an online learning tool of the anatomy of the brain, was developed for the Center of Excellence for Medical Multimedia (CEMM), an initiative from the Office of the Air Force Surgeon General, to coincide with the launch of the CEMM's Traumatic Brain Injury Web site.
The Brain is the most complex part of the human body. The primary goal was to create a unique and engaging virtual tool for patients and caregivers to better understand the anatomy and function of the brain.
Our team of medical animators, interaction designers and developers planned extensively with content specialists and physicians. The animation team built the models and fine tuned the presentation through physician collaboration. The interactive team then built a visually compelling framework to exhibit the project and engage the user.

These interactive capabilities led the website to be recognized with the Freddie Award, a top communications industry honor, in September 2009.“Our Airmen today are fighting in some of the most austere battlefield environments in more than a generation. They deserve nothing less than the most modern and sophisticated education tools and technologies to help them recover when they return,” said Dr. Randy Mauffray, an Air Force lieutenant colonel, and director of the CEMM...
